Women's basketball gives solid outing at Austin Peay in final exhibition game

Kentucky Wesleyan gave Austin Peay a tough battle on Monday night in their final exhibition game of the 2016 season in Clarksville, Tenn. The Panthers lost 69-59, but out-scored Austin Peay in the final three quarters of the contest 48-44.

KWC trailed by as little as six points in the fourth quarter, but were unable to cut the deficit down.

Three senior Panthers finished in double figures scoring. Erin Dorn led KWC with a team-high 14 points on 4-6 shooting from the field. Dorn also knocked down a team-high six free throws.

Jennifer Walker-Crawford and Sydney Morabito each tallied 10 points apiece. Walker-Crawford shot 50 percent from the floor, and Morabito was 4-5, with a perfect 2-2 from three point range.

Kentucky Wesleyan collected 32 total rebounds, with Shayla Wright bringing in six boards. Wright finished with seven points. Brittany Wells collected three assists and six points. Addie Reimbold also chipped in with six points and three rebounds. Freshman Emma Wolfe scored five points.

The Panthers as a team shot 18-26 from the free throw line, and 42 percent from the field.

Kentucky Wesleyan will begin their regular season on Friday at the Pops Duncan Classic in Nashville. The Panthers will first play Drury on Friday at 5 p.m., and then UMSL on Saturday at 5:30.
