Volleyball falls in five sets at home to Brescia

Kentucky Wesleyan faltered at home to Brescia in five sets on Friday evening at Jones Gym. The final score of the contest was 22-25, 20-25, 25-18, 25-18, 8-15. In the first meeting at Brescia, the Panthers won in five sets.  

With the loss, KWC drops to 10-15 on the season. The Panthers have now lost three consecutive matches. Friday's match was the final regular season match of the year. Kentucky Wesleyan will play in the G-MAC Championship next week in Mason, Ohio.

After dropping the first two sets, KWC re-grouped and rolled through the third set. In the fourth, the Panthers trailed 10-2. KWC would rally to win 23 of the next 28 points to take win the set 25-18. KWC won eight consecutive points after a timeout to get back into the set.

The fifth set was tight early on at 8-7, but Brescia would control the final points of the set. The Bearcats won seven of the next eight to win the set and the match.

Audrey Baysinger snatched a team-high 10 kills, while Sierra Morrow posted nine, and Jaylen McEwen registered eight kills.

Hannah Pierce led KWC with 23 digs and two service aces. Nicole Venema tallied 14, and Emily Yocom finished with nine digs. Kylie Foster collected 20 assists, and Courtney Gildea placed 15. Sierra Morrow recorded a career-high seven blocks. Gabrielle Gallois also notched three blocks.
