Panthers overcome slow start, defeat Winona State 77-61

Kentucky Wesleyan (4-2) won their fourth game of the season on Friday afternoon over Winona State 77-61 in the Hampton Inn Thanksgiving Classic at the Sportscenter. The Panthers overcame an early deficit in the first half and produced a strong second half, where they out-scored the Warriors 40-32.

How it happened
Much like Tuesday evening, the Panthers started off sluggish. With missed jump shots and turnovers, Winona State held a 10-5 lead. The Warriors still remained ahead 19-14 midway through the half.

KWC opened things up with a 14-4 run to take the lead for the first time in the contest at 30-25 late in the half. Jordan Jacks had 11 points at the break, and the Panthers led 37-29.
In the second half, Kentucky Wesleyan got off to a great start.

Josh Derksen knocked down a three from the left corner to cap off a 19-7 run, which gave the Panthers a 56-39 advantage.

KWC's largest lead of the game was 19, after Shaakir Lindsey drilled a three with 12 minutes to play.

Winona State wouldn't go away and chipped the lead down to 12 late in the game, but the Panthers prevailed for their 33rd straight victory at the Sportscenter.

Inside the box score
Jordan Jacks fueled KWC's offense on the night with 20 points and seven rebounds. Jacks shot 6-9 from the floor, and knocked down 8-9 free throws.

Bosley, who was coming off his incredible career night performance Tuesday, dropped 15 points, five rebounds, and a team-high three assists.

Shaakir Lindsey had his best game in a KWC uniform on Friday. Lindsey posted 12 points, and also collected a season-high seven rebounds.

Michael Vigilance and Josh Derksen each chipped in with eight points apiece. Derksen also collected five rebounds.

The Panthers out-rebounded the Warriors 38-28 on the glass. KWC shot 46 percent from the field, and were 81 percent from the free throw line, converting on 21-26 attempts.

Kentucky Wesleyan scored 40 points inside the paint, along with 14 points off of turnovers. KWC also finished with 31 bench points.

The Panthers' defense forced Winona State into committing 10 turnovers.
