Panthers falter to long-time rival USI, 85-81

Box Score
A late rally by the Panthers in the second half fell just short, as Kentucky Wesleyan (2-2) lost their second straight game on Saturday evening at the Ford Center in Evansville to USI, 85-81 in the final game of the Small College Basketball Hall Of Fame Classic.

The game was tight in the first half, but USI led the entire way after a brief 2-0 lead from KWC. The Screaming Eagles held a 42-39 advantage at halftime.
In the second half, USI jumped out to a 69-55 lead, and seemingly had the game in hand with just seven minutes to play.

However, the Panthers refused to lie down, and nearly made an incredible comeback. Kentucky Wesleyan went on a 24-9 run in the next six minutes of the contest, and took the lead at 79-78 after Adam Stanford drilled two huge free throws with 57 seconds left.

On USI's next possession, Jeril Taylor drilled a three to give the Eagles the lead back at 81-79. Moments later, Stanford fouled out, and Bosley missed a three pointer attempt on the final possessions for KWC.
