Volleyball suffers five set loss to Malone in first round at G-MAC Championship

Kentucky Wesleyan fell in five sets to Malone in the first round of the G-MAC Championship in Mason, Ohio on Thursday evening. The Panthers lost the match (25-19, 16-25, 25-20, 19-25, 11-15). The Panthers led two sets to one, before dropping the fourth and final fifth sets.

The Pioneers rallied from a 3-0 deficit to take down the Panthers. With the loss, Kentucky Wesleyan's season officially comes to a close with an overall record of 10-16.

Elizabeth Gober led the Panthers with a season-high 15 kills in the loss. Jaylen McEwen recorded nine kills, while Gabrielle Gallois and Audrey Baysinger finished with eight and seven kills respectively. Mallory Sacre also tallied five kills in the contest.

Courtney Gildea posted a team-high 22 assists, while Kylie Foster collected 15. Gildea also produced 14 digs. Baysinger registered a career-high eight service aces for the Panthers. She also finished the match with seven digs, and a team-high three block assists. Hannah Pierce tacked on 21 digs, and Nicole Venema also tallied 12.

Earlier in the day, freshmen Sierra Morrow and Kylie Foster were each officially named to the All-Conference teams. Morrow was selected to both the G-MAC second team and All-Freshman team, and Foster was also chosen to the All-Freshman team.
