Kentucky Wesleyan used a late spurt in the second half to pull away from Tiffin in the final GLIAC/G-MAC Challenge at the Owensboro Sportscenter on Saturday afternoon. Kentucky Wesleyan won the contest 84-76 to improve to 2-0 on the season. The Panthers out-scored Tiffin 48-36 in the second half.
Tiffin hit a half-court shot to put the Dragons in the lead at 40-36 heading into halftime. Bosley and Jacks fueled the Panthers' offense in the second half with a 16-7 run to come back and take the lead. Bosley scored 17 points in the second half.
As a team, the Panthers shot 43 percent from the field, and 33 percent from three point land. KWC also nailed 24-32 free throws in the win too.
Ken-Jah Bosley led the Panthers' offense again in scoring with 23 points on 7-17 shooting from the floor. Bosley scored 22 in Friday's win over Wayne State.
Jordan Jacks totaled 16 points and six rebounds. Jacks finished 4-8 from the field. Charles Foster scored a season-high 12 points and also dished out a team-high four assists.
Michael Vigilance brought in a team-high 13 rebounds and scored nine points. Vigilance came away with several huge rebounds late in the game to help secure the win for the Panthers. He also finished with two blocks.
Adam Stanford led KWC with three blocks, while Josh Derksen collected six points.
KWC out-rebounded Tiffin 42-32 and scored 42 points inside the paint. The Panthers' defense forced the Dragons into committing 17 turnovers.
The Panthers will be back in action next Friday evening against Lincoln-Memorial in the first game of the Small College Basketball Hall Of Fame Classic. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. The Panthers will also play Southern Indiana on Saturday evening at 8 p.m.
