Kentucky Wesleyan dropped its rematch with Cedarville in Ohio on Saturday in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play. The Panthers fell in straight sets, losing (25-16, 25-20, 25-21). With the loss, Kentucky Wesleyan falls to 10-13, (4-5 G-MAC) on the year.
The Panthers started the match off on a slow note, and quickly fell behind 8-0. KWC was able to shore up the margin for a brief moment, but the Yellow Jackets pulled away to win the set convincingly.
In the second, KWC started the set off much better and were tied with CU at 9-9. The Yellow Jackets would extend their lead out to 17-10 moments later, and ultimately closed off the set after a late fight from the Panthers.
Cedarville closed out the third set and never trailed. Kentucky Wesleyan managed to keep it tight for the majority of the set, as it was 22-20 late in the set. The Yellow Jackets won the final two points off of kills to finish the set and match.
Kylie Foster recorded 15 assists for the Panthers' offense up front. Sierra Morrow collected seven kills, and Jaylen McEwen tacked on six kills.
Nicole Venema posted a team-high nine digs and four service aces throughout the course of the match.
KWC will return to action next Tuesday in Nashville at Trevecca Nazarene. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m. CT.
