Volleyball rallies to defeat Alderson Broaddus on Senior Day

Kentucky Wesleyan defeated Alderson Broaddus in five sets on Saturday afternoon at Jones Gym in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play. KWC honored its three seniors, Sarah Swenson, Kaitlyn Groce, and Emily Yocom. The Panthers won the match 19-25, 25-22, 16-25, 25-16, 15-12. With the victory, Kentucky Wesleyan improves to 9-12, 3-4 G-MAC on the season. The Panthers will have one more regular season home match on Nov. 4 against Brescia.

Kentucky Wesleyan trailed down two sets to one, before making a comeback. In the fourth set, the Panthers rebounded after dropping the third 25-16. The Panthers led 18-15 briefly, and then exploded to win the next seven out of eight consecutive points to clinch the set. Mallory Sacre won the final point in the set with a service ace.

In the fifth and final set, KWC got off to a hot start. Sierra Morrow's kill put the Panthers ahead 6-2. Later on in the fifth, the Panthers' lead dwindled down to just 12-11. However, Kentucky Wesleyan won the next four out of five points to win the match. Jaylen McEwen produced a kill on the final point of the match.

Sierra Morrow and Elizabeth Gober both finished with a team-high 13 kills apiece. Mallory Sacre also registered seven kills. Kylie Foster and Nicole Venema each posted three service aces. Venema led the Panthers with 10 digs, while Foster also tallied six digs. Foster collected 32 assists throughout the match.

Morrow and Kristina Canary each generated three blocks. Senior Kaitlyn Groce added 10 assists.

Kentucky Wesleyan will return to action next Friday at Ohio Valley.
