Women’s basketball preview for Salem International and Ohio Valley

Game Notes

The Kentucky Wesleyan women's basketball team will host Salem International on Thursday and Ohio Valley on Saturday at the Sportscenter for Great Midwest Athletic Conference play. Thursday's game will tip-off at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday's game is set to start at 1 p.m.

The Panthers are 9-6, (3-2 G-MAC) this season, but are coming off of a 54-49 loss to Trevecca from Monday evening. KWC has shot under 30% from the floor in their past two contests. Kentucky Wesleyan is 5-1 in home games this year. The Panthers are scoring 64.7 points per game, and are holding opponents to 62 points per game.

Kentucky Wesleyan has two players averaging double figures in Brittany Wells and Jennifer-Walker Crawford. Wells is averaging 12.9 points per game, and Walker-Crawford is scoring 11.6 points per game. Walker-Crawford is averaging 5.8 rebounds per game, which is a team-high. Bria Wright is also bringing in 5.1 boards each game. Wright leads the Panthers this season with 26 steals per game. Jill Jones leads KWC with two assists each.

Salem International is 2-15, (0-5 G-MAC) in this year's campaign. The Tigers are currently on a seven game losing streak, and have not won a game since December. Salem International is averaging 55.9 points per game, and is giving up 78 points per game to opponents. Samantha Aiken leads Salem International in scoring, with 14 points per game. The Tigers have lost all eight contests this season that they've played on the road.

The Fighting Scots are 3-14, (1-4 G-MAC) so far this year. Ohio Valley has lost their past two G-MAC contests to Alderson Broaddus and Davis & Elkins. OVU is only scoring 59.8 points per game, and are giving up 71.2 points per game to opponents. They shoot 36% from the floor altogether as a team. The Fighting Scots are just 1-5 this year on the road.
