Game NotesThe Kentucky Wesleyan men's basketball team will take on Sunday afternoon at 3:15 p.m. at the Sportscenter. The game was postponed from Saturday due to the weather. The Panthers (15-2, 3-0 G-MAC) come into the game currently on a hot streak, as they have won their past six games. Five of the wins have come by a margin of at least 13 points or higher. KWC is also a perfect 10-0 at the Sportscenter this season.
Coach
Happy Osborne briefly spoke about the team's successful trip to West Virginia. "I think that we played really hard at Alderson Broaddus. That was a good win for us. To be 3-0 on the road is a great feeling, and now we are focused on a solid Trevecca team that can really score."
Despite being 6-11 overall, Trevecca is 2-1 in conference play. The Trojans have defeated Cedarville and Davis & Elkins in G-MAC play. Trevecca lost its last contest to Alderson Broaddus by 22 points. The Trojans have three players who are averaging double figures in scoring. Byron Sanford leads the way with 19.1 ppg, Matt Gamberoni is second in scoring with 11.6 ppg, while Mac Walden is also scoring just over 11.2 ppg.
Osborne on facing Trevecca: "Byron Sanford is really good. Jalen Palm was a division one player, Tyrell Corlew is a good guard player as well. Their big guy inside Gamberoni is another really strong player for them. As good as they can shoot and score the basketball, Trevecca is just as good as anybody in our league offensively. We have got to get down, and we have to guard. It will be tough, but we have to guard the drive, the three, and their down low play. We'll have our hands full for sure."
Ken-Jah Bosley leads Kentucky Wesleyan in the scoring column with 17.2 ppg.
Jordan Jacks has posted nine double-doubles already this season. Jacks is averaging 14.4 ppg and 8.9 rebounds per game, which is a team-high.
Devin Langford is third in scoring with 14.2 ppg, and
C.J. Blackwell, who was named G-MAC Athlete Of The Week earlier this week, is also scoring in double figures with 12.2 ppg.
Osborne on
C.J. Blackwell being name G-MAC Athlete Of The Week: "What he's done more than anything is be a great teammate. He's a captain and he's taken that role seriously. He's growing up and maturing, and he's a great young man.
Last weekend, KWC held both Alderson Broaddus and Davis & Elkins to under 35% shooting. Osborne discussed if that could translate over into this weekend. "If it does, I'll be a happy man. We're going to have to really work. We've had a week off now, and I don't necessarily think that's good when you're winning."
