Kentucky Wesleyan College Athletics

Kentucky Wesleyan will host Urbana at Jones Gymnasium on Saturday at 2 p.m. CT in their home opener.

The Panthers recently played in the North Alabama Classic, where they squared off against North Alabama, Quincy, Southern Wesleyan, and Montevallo.

Coach Eric Hagan said that his team played the best match of the weekend against Montevallo.

"It would be very easy to be upset and angry at being 0-8, but when your girls are competing and giving the effort and energy that is needed, it's all about if we are getting better, and yes we are getting better" said Hagan.

Hagan also discussed how this past tournament will help benefit the Panthers in the future: "I'm very pleased with the progress that we are making and I like the direction that we are going. Ultimately these matches will prepare us for conference."

Urbana enters Saturday with a 5-5 record and the Blue Knights are coming in with a two match winning streak after defeating Ohio Valley 3-0, and Walsh 3-2 last weekend.

Hagan on Urbana: "We're excited about the matchups, and we feel good about the match. I'm looking forward to this week of practice, and we are all looking forward to the Urbana match on Saturday."
