Box Score 2 After splitting in the first doubleheader with Oakland City, Kentucky Wesleyan returned to Pinnick Field looking to take three of four from the Mighty Oaks.
Sammy Holder pitched a two-hit shutout in game three of the series to help KWC to a 2-0 win and
Johnathan Eberhardt hit his 11th home run of the season in the final game to lead KWC to an 11-1 victory. With the wins, KWC improved to 24-13 on the season and OCU fell to 11-19.
GAME THREE – KWC 2, OCU 0 (7 innings)
Sammy Holder fired a two hit shutout to earn the win in game three for KWC. Holder pitched all seven innings and allowed only three additional baserunners while striking out three.
Holder got all the offense he needed in the first inning when
Josh Galvan drove in
Troy Paris with an RBI single to put the Panthers up 1-0. KWC would add an insurance run in the sixth on a
Seth Sharp sacrifice fly that scored
Tyler Howard and made it 2-0.
Holder retired the first eight batters he faced in the game and pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the third. He would only allow three base runners the rest of the game en route to his third win of the season.
GAME FOUR – KWC 11, OCU 1 (7 innings)
KWC scored early and often in the finale of the four-game series, tallying four runs in the first and five in the fourth to cruise to the win.
Johnathan Eberhardt was 2-for-2 in the game with a home run, three RBI's and four runs scored while Galvan had three hits, an RBI and a run scored in the contest.
Austin Tibbs won in relief for the third time this season, pitching 3.1 innings and allowing two hits and nothing else while striking out three. Eberhardt's home run was his team leading 11th blast of the season and his first while hitting cleanup.
Next up for the Panthers is a trip to Louisville on Tuesday for a doubleheader against former GLVC foe Bellarmine. First pitch is scheduled for noon CT.
