Marksbury and Parker home runs lift Kentucky Wesleyan to ninth straight G-MAC win

Samantha Marksbury and Jaclyn Parker each hit a home run to lift Kentucky Wesleyan to a 3-1 victory over host Trevecca Nazarene to extend the Panther's Great Midwest Athletic Conference winning streak to nine.
 
The Trojans scored the first run of the contest in the bottom of the third.
 
Marksbury's two-run homer brought Amber Pendergraft to the plate in the sixth put KWC ahead 2-1. Parker connected on her solo shot to center field to secure the win.
 
Pendergraft and Mackenize Weedman each collected two of the Panthers six hits. Casey Smith (6-2) threw 6.2 innings with two strikeouts and one walk. Josalyn Ress earned her first save of the season by closing with the final out.
 
In the nightcap, a non-conference tilt, TNU came up with six runs in the fifth to end KWC's 13-game win streak with a 6-3 victory.
 
The Panthers jumped out to a 1-0 lead on Josalyn Parker's RBI fielder's choice scoring Ashley Crooke. Kaci Ovelgoenner in the third brought Marksbury across the plate with a two-run homer to center field to push the lead to 3-0.
 
The Trojans registered eight hits in the fifth to compile five runs. Neither team scored the final two frames.
 
Jessica Carmon (2-2) received the KWC loss. She threw 4.1 innings with two strikeouts and no walks. Smith finished the final 1.2 innings with one strikeout.
 
The Panthers (18-7, 9-0 G-MAC) host Trevecca today in a G-MAC doubleheader at Foster Field beginning at noon.
