Panthers return to G-MAC play

Coming off their best shooting performance of the season against Oakland City, Kentucky Wesleyan women's basketball returns to Great Midwest Athletic Conference play this weekend.

"It was a really good game for us against Oakland City," said co-head coach Nicole Nieman.  "For us, Oakland City is always a tough matchup.  Offensively we were clicking on all cylinders and it took us awhile to get going defensively because they hit some shots, too."

The win gave the Panthers five in a row and moved them to 13-6 on the season.  This weekend, they travel to Trevecca for a rematch with the Trojans.

Jordanne Gambill paces KWC in scoring this season at 13.2 points-per-game, while Bria Wright leads the team in rebounding with 6.9 per game and assists at 2.1 per game.  Overall, the Panthers average 70 points and 42 rebounds per game while shooting 40 percent from the floor, 32 percent from three-point range and 69 percent at the free throw line.

Trevecca enters the contest 10-9 overall and 7-2 in G-MAC play.  The Trojans have dropped the last two against KWC, including a 70-64 decision earlier this season in Owensboro.  Kaci Britt Bell is the leading scorer (11.7 ppg) and rebounder (6.5 rpg) for Trevecca and Christina Curtner leads the team in assists, averaging 3.5 per game.

"Trevecca's a really good team," said Nieman, when asked about this weekend.  "They haven't played in a long time, so they have been able to do a lot of preparation for us.  We have to be able to matchup defensively all over the court.  That is going to be the key to this game."
