Box Score Playing in her final home game for Kentucky Wesleyan,
Jordanne Gambill scored the first basket of the game for the Panthers, en route to a 20-point effort against Ohio Valley University.
KWC never trailed following Gambill's basket, leading by as many as 42 in the second half en route to a 76-44 win over OVU. The win helped the Panthers finish the regular season 18-8 overall and 13-3 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play.
Gambill made the score 2-0 50 seconds into the game and
Bria Wright made the lead 4-0 with a layup at the 17:40 mark. OVU (6-19/5-11 G-MAC), made their first basket to make it 4-2 with 17:20 left in the first half.
A jumper from
Erin Dorn with 16:39 left in the half made the score 6-2 before a three pointer from the Fighting Scots brought the lead to its closest margin of one at 6-5. A
Jennifer Walker-Crawford jumper made the lead 8-5 and sent the Panthers sailing from there.
The Panthers finished the half on a 36-9 to go into the locker room leading 44-14 at the half.
KWC would open the second half on a 12-0 run to make the lead 56-14 with 15:56 left in the game. Gambill's final basket as a Panther at home would come at the 2:18 mark and put Wesleyan ahead 72-40.
The Panthers would cruise from their finishing the win 76-44. Gambill finished with 20 points for KWC and was joined by
Brittany Wells in double figures with 12.
KWC outshot OVU 45 percent to 33 percent and outrebounded the Scots 46-26 in the regular season finale. The Panthers now await the loser of the Central State-Ursuline game in the first round of the G-MAC tournament, which begins on March 5 in Cedarville, Ohio.
