KWC sweeps in West Virginia

Box Score
Jordanne Gambill's three-pointer with 7:53 left in the basketball game gave Kentucky Wesleyan women's basketball a spark to finish a win at Davis & Elkins this afternoon.

Gambill's 16 points paced KWC and the Panthers were dominant in an 85-68 win over the Senators this afternoon. KWC improves to 16-8 overall and 11-3 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play, while Davis & Elkins dropped to 11-13 overall and 7-8 in the G-MAC.

Davis & Elkins got out to a 3-0 lead in the first minute, but the Panthers would respond with a 6-0 run to take a 6-3 lead with 17:22 left in the first half.  Less than 30 seconds later, D&E would tie it up for the second time, 6-6, on a three-pointer at the 16:53 mark.

A pair of Bria Wright free throws with 15:56 to go gave KWC an 8-6 lead and they would never trail again, going into the locker room at the half with a 41-21 lead.

D&E cut the lead to 11 in the first 12 minutes of the second half until Gambill's three-pointer moved the lead to 14.  From that point on, KWC never saw their lead shrink below 13 and they cruised to an 85-68 win.

Gambill would lead the way with 16 points for the Panthers and Jennifer Walker-Crawford would add 10 points and eight rebounds as well.  Jill Jones scored a career high 10 points, all on free throws in the final 1:30 of the game.

KWC outshot Davis & Elkins 54 percent to 34 percent and out rebounded the Senators 45-37.  The Panthers return to the court on Thursday night for their final home stand of the year against Salem International.
