Box Score 2 Kentucky Wesleyan opened the Lewis Flyers D2 Midwest Region Dome Invitational in Rosemont, Ill., on Friday morning falling to Missouri St. Louis and host Lewis.
 
In the first contest, the No. 5 ranked Tritons jumped out to a 2-0 lead after two innings before adding five in the third and three in the fourth to defeat the Panthers 10-0 in five innings.
 
KWC bounced back offensively in second game.
 
Kaci Ovelgoenner started the first inning with an RBI single scoring 
Jaclyn Parker to grab a 1-0 advantage. 
Ashley Crooke hit a RBI double in the third driving home Ovelgoenner to add to the 2-0 lead.
 
The Flyers responded with one in bottom of the third and then added three in the fourth for a 4-2 tally.
 
Ovelgoenner knocked in 
Amber Pendergraft for her second RBI of the contest to cut the lead to 4-3.
 
Lewis came back with three more runs in the fifth to extend the score to 7-3.
 
Casey Smith tossed 3.1 innings and 
Jessica Carmon came in relief for the final 1.1. Both registered three strikeouts a piece.
 
The Panthers battled in the seventh when 
Ashley Crooke hit a two-run single scoring Pendergraft and 
Mackenzie Weedman came across the plate on a throwing error to settle on the final score 7-5 loss.
 
Weedman and Crooke each collected two hits. KWC produced eight hits to the Flyers 12. 
Josalyn Ress threw four strikeouts in four innings and Carmon had one in two frames.
 
KWC (4-2) continue play against Wisconsin-Parkside and Missouri S&T on Saturday morning at 9 and 11 a.m.
