Box Score The Kentucky Wesleyan women's basketball team rolled past Oakland City 67-47 on Wednesday evening at the Sportscenter. The Panthers completely dominated the Mighty Oaks, and controlled the game from start to finish. With the victory, Kentucky Wesleyan wins their third straight game, and improves to 4-3 on the season.
The Panthers started off hot from the floor, and built a small 13-6 early lead. They lead 19-12 after the first quarter, as KWC shot a strong 59% from the field in the first half.
In the second quarter, Kentucky Wesleyan was able to extend their lead to as big as 22, after
Jade Mills-Harris converted on a layup to give the Panthers a 38-16 advantage. Kentucky Wesleyan had a large lead heading into halftime at 40-20. The Panthers shot 66% from three point range in the first half. Kentucky Wesleyan also held the Mighty Oaks to just eight made field goals in the first two quarters.
The second half remained the same story. The Panthers continued to be well in front of Oakland City, as
Erin Dorn and
Brittany Wells nailed back-to-back three point shots to put KWC up 56-34 going into the final quarter of play.
Oakland city was able to out-score the Panthers in the fourth, but the margin remained heavily towards Kentucky Wesleyan.
Katie Miller's layup gave the Panthers their biggest lead of the entire game at 65-40. Oakland City shot just 31% for the entire game, and committed 26 turnovers. Kentucky Wesleyan out-scored the Mights Oaks 38-12 in the paint, and scored 30 points off of turnovers.
Jennifer Walker-Crawford was a dominating offensive presence on the court as she led KWC with 20 points on 6-7 shooting.
Brittany Wells collected 9 points, and
Erin Dorn and
Katie Miller each scored seven. Walker-Crawford brought in a team-high six rebounds, and Miller dished out a team-high three assists. Dorn also recorded three steals during the game. The Panthers shot 46% from the floor for the game. They also connected on 11/18 from the foul line throughout the contest.
Kentucky Wesleyan will be in action again at the Sportscenter on December 15th at 6 p.m. against Lane.
