Panthers set to host KWC Classic

Game notes

"These are quality basketball teams that will provide us with big tests," KWC head coach Happy Osborne said. "We'll be in a stretch there where we're playing three games in four days, so this will give us an opportunity to grow as a basketball team, become better, and gain some momentum heading into December.

"These next two games are huge for us. We have an opportunity to improve as a team, a chance to really take off. But we've got to bring it with consistency at both ends of the floor.

"And, we need all the support we can get from our great fans out in the community."

KWC (4-1) is coming off a 93-78 victory over visiting Paine College on Wednesday. In that contest, the key figure for the Panthers was Jordan Jacks, who produced 22 points and 11 rebounds. KWC also got double-digit scoring from C.J. Blackwell, 16, Ken-Jah Bosley, 13, Tamron Manning, 11, Jeremaine Morgan, 11, and Devin Langford, 10.

It was a nice bounce-back for Wesleyan, which suffered a 94-81 setback at North Alabama on Saturday.

Northern Michigan (0-1) lost at Minnesota Duluth 79-67 on Nov. 17, despite 16 points from Naba Echols, 13 from Terry Nash and 12 from Jordan Perez.

NMU was blown out at Michigan State (94-53) and Michigan (70-44) in preseason exhibition games.

Michigan Tech (0-1) also lost to Minnesota Duluth in its only regular-season game. In that contest, Michigan Tech was paced by Kyle Monroe, who scored 19 points. Bryan Heath scored 18 and Luke Heller added 17.

Southern Wesleyan (1-4) is the fourth team in the KWC Classic. The Warriors, out of Central, South Carolina, will play Michigan Tech at 1 p.m. on Friday and will battle Northern Michigan at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
