Kentucky Wesleyan will play host to Trevecca on Saturday evening at 5 p.m. at Jones Gymnasium. It will be the final home match of the year for the Panthers (9-18, 3-6 G-MAC) and if they defeat the Trojans, they will automatically advance to the G-MAC tournament.
There are multiple scenarios where the Panthers can advance to the conference tourney with a loss. The contest has been labeled as Senior Night.
Both teams met previously last week on November 4th, where Trevecca (16-11, 6-3 G-MAC) won the match in straight sets over the Panthers (25-23, 25-14, 25-13). Trevecca has won four consecutive matches heading into Saturday.
Coach
Eric Hagan on last week's conference victories, "On Friday, we came out focused and we were able to pull it out against a much improved Salem International team. Saturday against Ohio Valley was also a big win. We looked really good at times throughout the match. The girls came up huge in the fifth set and responded well."
Nikki Jenkins and
Jordan King will play their final home match at Jones Gymnasium for their careers. Jenkins has recorded 829 kills in her Kentucky Wesleyan career, which ranks eighth in KWC history. She also is listed as eighth in block assists, and tenth in total blocks. Jenkins posted a career- high 22 kills against Lake Erie this season.
King has played only one season at Kentucky Wesleyan after transferring from Brescia. King has tallied 91 kills and 24 digs so far this season. In her career, she has collected 439 kills and 333 digs.
Hagan on the game plan for Saturday's match, "We have to put the ball away, it's that simple. If we win were in the conference tournament, and if we lose we have to play the waiting game. It's a big day for us obviously with it being Senior Day. We will recognize
Nikki Jenkins and
Jordan King. I imagine that it will be an emotional game.
"Defensively against them, we cannot allow Atkinson to go off on us. She's one of the best players in the conference, and we just have to try and limit her. It should be a very interesting match on Saturday."
