Volleyball sweeps Oakland City, wins fourth straight

Kentucky Wesleyan swept Oakland City 3-0 on Tuesday evening by a score of 25-23, 25-18, and 25-14. The victory now marks the Panthers fourth straight win, and their fifth win out of the last six matches. The Panthers also improve their record on the year to 6-15.

After a close first set, the Panthers took control of the match and eventually pulled away with convincing second and third set scores. Autumn Harris led Kentucky Wesleyan with 12 kills. Nikki Jenkins also posted 11 kills, 12 digs, and four blocks.

Nicole Venema logged a team-high 18 digs, and also led the Panthers in passing. Sarah Swenson wound up with all 36 assists and also notched seven digs throughout the progression of the match. Gabrielle Gallois recorded a team-high five blocks. The Panthers finished the match with 43 kills, 55 digs, and 13 blocks.

This weekend, the Panthers will look for their first conference victory of the year as they play host to two G-MAC opponents in Ursuline and Cedarville on Friday and Saturday at Jones Gymnasium. Ursuline and Cedarville both defeated Kentucky Wesleyan 3-0 in their first meetings. 

Friday's match has been tabbed as a Breast Cancer Awareness match. The match will start at 7 p.m. Saturday's match will begin at 11:30 a.m.
