Volleyball takes care of Brescia

The Kentucky Wesleyan volleyball team recorded their second home win of the season after defeating Brescia 3-1 (25-22, 25-22, 22-25, 25-21) on Friday night at Jones Gymnasium.

The Panthers started off on a roll winning the first two sets by scores of 25-22. Brescia would come back in both sets, but the Panthers prevailed and held on to a two set advantage.

In the third set, Kentucky Wesleyan gathered a sizable lead looking to put the match away, but Brescia charged back into the set after winning several points in a row. The Bearcats eventually won the set 25-22.

In the fourth set, Kentucky Wesleyan regathered its momentum, and took control of the set early on. Mallory Sacre, who only played in the fourth set, came up big in the final points of the set, and she ended the match with a game-winning kill Courtney Gildea led the Panthers in assists with 26.

Nikki Jenkins proved to be a dominating force at the net yet again as she posted 20 kills during the match. Autumn Harris had 10 kills and Gabrielle Gallois notched 11.

Alex Satterfield led the Bearcats with 31 assists. Rhiannon Ungerer tallied the most kills with 14, and Bonnie Jones finished with 13 digs.

The Panthers have now won three consecutive matches and have improved their record on the year to 5-15.

The next match is Tuesday on the road against Oakland City.
