Volleyball grabs two wins at Midwest Regional Crossover and Sarah Swenson named to All-Crossover Team

Kentucky Wesleyan grabbed two wins in three contests at the Mizuno Midwest Regional Crossover, the nation's largest collegiate volleyball tournament, at the Great Lakes Center in Aurora, Ill., over the weekend.
 
Sarah Swenson, a sophomore setter from Louisville (Male HS), was named to the All-Crossover Team where she produced 129 assists for a 12.4 average in three matches and 12 sets.
 
The Panthers started Friday afternoon with a four-set victory over Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) foe Lake Superior State 25-20, 22-25, 25-16 and 25-18.
 
Elizabeth Gober led the offense with 18 kills. Autumn Harris and Nikki Jenkins each added 14. Swenson contributed 51 of the team's 56 assists plus had a set-high 11 digs. Gabrielle Gallois tallied four aces and Jenkins had three. Elizabeth Zuber took control of the defensive by providing eight total blocks.
 
On Saturday morning, Kentucky Wesleyan fell short against GLIAC institute and future Great Midwest Athletic Conference member Ohio Dominican in four sets, 18-25, 25-23, 21-25 and 10-25.
 
Gober and Jenkins recorded 13 kills each and Harris had 11. Swenson registered 42 assists and Nicole Venema recorded a set-high 20 digs.
 
The Panthers bounced back in the afternoon by defeating the GLIAC's Lake Erie in four sets, 25-20, 13-25, 25-19, 25-23.
 
Jenkins produced 22 kills and a .396 hitting percentage while Gober and Harris joined in with 11 each. Harris also posted a .375 hitting percentage. Swenson had her second 50-plus assist set with 56. Venema picked up 18 digs and Harris had 11.
 
Kentucky Wesleyan (3-15, 0-4 G-MAC) host Kentucky State on Wednesday at 6 p.m. CT and Brescia on Friday at 7 p.m.
