Former Owensboro and Daviess County High Schools tennis coach
Diana Hunter returns to her alma mater as Kentucky Wesleyan College's head women's tennis coach, according to new Director of Athletics
Rob Mallory.
     Â
"We are thrilled to announce
Diana Hunter as our new head coach of the women's tennis program," said Mallory. "Her energy and enthusiasm are exactly what the program needs at this time.
     Â
"As a long-time coach and educator in Owensboro, Diana has an outstanding reputation for mentoring students and preparing them for success in all aspects of life."
     Â
Hunter most recently spent one season at Daviess County as the girls and boys coach. Prior to DCHS, she served 10 seasons at Owensboro as the girls coach plus four seasons as the boys coach.
     Â
"This opportunity to return to my alma mater means I have come full-circle," Hunter stated. "This is the place where I started as a student-athlete and now returning home as the head coach.
     Â
"I will take my experiences and pass it on to our tennis scholar-athletes. I want to better their skill set in tennis but at the same time help them become successful students and adults just like Kentucky Wesleyan College did for me many years ago."
     Â
Mallory added, "As an alumnae and former four-sport athlete at Kentucky Wesleyan, Diana understands the rich and unique tradition of Panther athletics and will serve as a tremendous example for our tennis scholar-athletes."
     Â
Hunter started for four years on the basketball and softball teams plus two seasons on the tennis and volleyball squads.
     Â
She graduated from Kentucky Wesleyan in 1983 with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. Hunter earned her masters of arts in guidance counseling from Western Kentucky University in 1996 and her Rank I in 1997.
