Box Score Hitting a season-high 12 three-pointers, Kentucky Wesleyan women's basketball was able to lead most of the way against Davis & Elkins tonight at the Sportscenter.
Jordanne Gambill led the way with 18 points, including a season high five three-pointers as KWC cruised to a 76-63 win at the Sportscenter. The Panthers took the lead for good with 7:37 left in the first half.
KWC got out to a 5-2 lead before a 9-0 run by Davis & Elkins put them up 11-5 with 13:48 left in the first half. The Panthers chipped away from there and tied the game at 14 on a Gambill free throw with 9:44 left in the half.
Jennifer Walker-Crawford's lone three of the game put KWC up 17-14 at the 8:31 mark before D & E tied it with 7:50 left. A three from Gambill with 7:31 left gave the Panthers a 20-17 lead and they would never look back from there.
The Panthers would stretch the lead to as many as 11 in the half and lead 35-29 at the half.
KWC opened the second half on an 8-0 run to stretch the lead to 12 and they would lead by as many as 17 in the half. The lead would never go below double digits as the Panthers won 76-63.
In addition to Gambill's 18 points, Walker-Crawford chipped in 15 and
Haley Cook, after missing the last two, had 11 off the bench. KWC hit a season high 12 three-pointers and outrebounded D&E 48-36.
The Panthers return to the Sportscenter on Saturday for a visit from Alderson-Broaddus. Tip-off is at 1 p.m. CT.
