Game notesAfter having its eight-game winning streak snapped by Cedarville on Thursday, the Kentucky Wesleyan men's basketball team continues its Ohio conference road trip with hopes of bouncing back when the Panthers face G-MAC foe Central State on Saturday in Wilberforce, Ohio.
The Panthers (13-4, 3-1 in G-MAC) lost 62-60 to the Yellow Jackets when Devin Langford was whistled for a goal tending call with .3 seconds left in the game, but second-year KWC coach Happy Osborne said his squad has no time to sit around and dwell on their first conference loss of the season.
"Now we go to Central State, and suddenly the team that had everything going has its back against the wall. Now who are we, what are we about? We're getting ready to find out. There's only one thing to do when you get in a corner, and that's swing your way out of it. It's time for our kids to swing their way out of it."
Central State (9-6, 2-1) sports a pair of double-digit scorers in 5-8 guard Masceo Harmon (16.5 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 4.3 apg) and 6-5 forward Raheem Lemons (13.4 ppg, 9.9 rpg). Other starters will be 6-0 guard Tre Edwards (8.4 ppg), 6-0 guard Sterling Gilmore (7.5 ppg) and 6-1 guard Jeremy Brown (5.9 ppg).
"We've got to roll up our sleeves and go, it's on in this league now," Osborne said. "We had things kind of where we wanted it, and we did this to ourselves. Now we're going to find out what we're about Saturday afternoon. It's going to be a war, a bloodbath fight up there.
"They're a good team, they're like Cedarville. They play zone, they're going to press, and we'll have our hands full. Coach (Joseph) Price, he does a great job. He was a Division I coach at Grambling State. We've got to go.
"This is a challenge for our staff, this is a challenge for our guys. Let's find out what Kentucky Wesleyan is all about. Let's take some adversity and stare it down."
