Coming off a regular season championship and a second place finish in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference championship the Kentucky Wesleyan College volleyball team opens their season this weekend in St. Louis, Mo., looking for an improvement over last year.Â
KWC will be participating in the Maryville Tournament. The Panthers open with Minnesota-Crookston on Fri., at 11 a.m. and West Liberty at 5 p.m. followed by the host Maryville on Sat., at 11 a.m. and Saint Joseph's at 3 p.m.
"We expect to win the tournament," said first year head coach
Eric Hagan. "Our first matchup against Minnesota-Crookston is our focus right now. That's what we've been working on in practice. Just the things we need to do well to be successful."
The Panthers are returning 12 letter winners and five starters from last year's 26-7 team. Joining those 12 letter winners are six newcomers.
KWC returns for their home opener on Tues., Sept. 9, against Southern Indiana at 7 p.m.
