Game notes

A win that broke a losing streak last time out was important for Kentucky Wesleyan football.  This weekend, they travel to Phoenix to face Arizona Christian.

"It was good to get back into the winning side of things," said head coach Brent Holsclaw.  "Hopefully, we can start a winning streak from here on out."
KWC had three quarterbacks combine for over 300 yards and six touchdowns through the air last week.  Dalton Oliver still leads the team in passing for the season, going 40-of-78 for 612 yards and four touchdowns.

The Panthers had a combined 132 yards rushing in last week's game, including a touchdown from Myles WalkerAhmad Mitchell still leads the team, however, with 68 rushing yards and four TD's on the season.

On the receiving side, Keelan Cole had nine catches for 179 yards and three touchdowns last weekend and he leads the team in receiving with 21 catches for 356 yards and three touchdowns.

Defensively, KWC had four interceptions last week and held Trinity Bible to seven points.

"(Arizona Christian) is a really solid football team," added Holsclaw, when asked about preparation for the game. "They are coming off a good win and when you look at the film, you can see how disciplined they are.  They are on a little bit of a role right now.  It will be a great experience for our team and hopefully we can come back with a win."

Arizona Christian enters the game 2-3.  They are led in passing by Gerritt Groenewald, who is 43-of-77 for 495 yards and three touchdowns.  Ryan Essilinger is the leading rusher for ACU, with 17 carries for 109 yards and a touchdown and LaRon Barnes has 15 catches for 127 yards this season to lead in receiving.

KWC's first home game will be Oct. 4 vs. Faith at Steele Stadium.
