Early goal provides spark for KWC against Georgetown

Box Score

A goal by Penni Pluimer in the 23rd minute put Kentucky Wesleyan women's soccer up over Georgetown 1-0 in the first half. KWC would add two second half goals to win 3-1.

Pluimer's goal came on a crossing pass from Paige Kramer, for her second assist of the season, and deflected off the keeper's hands for a 1-0 lead. The second goal came less than two minutes into the second half.

Katlyn Duke would hit a pretty bender from just outside the box and get it to curve into the goal in the 47th minute to put the Panthers up 2-0.

"Coach is always on me to take my shots," said Duke after the game. "Me and the girl got tangled up (before I scored) and I got up before she did. I saw an open shot and I took it."

Lauren Norton added a third goal in the 52nd on a rebound off a shot from Duke that bounced off the crossbar and landed at her feet. She put it in the back of the net.
Georgetown would add a late goal, but that was all they could muster against Kate Dishion, who made three saves.

KWC plays for the first time on Panther Field on Saturday at 1 p.m. when they play Midway.
