Kentucky Wesleyan won twice over host Ursuline, 5-3 and 10-0, in Great Midwest Athletic Conference action in Pepper Pike, Ohio, on Saturday.
 
In the opener, the Panthers put three in the top of the first and never looked back. Ashley Crooke's double brought in the first run and Jessica Carmon followed with a two-run double. Amber Pendergraft in the next frame hit a RBI single to extend the lead to 4-0 after two.
 
The Arrows got on the scoreboards with three in the sixth to cut KWC's lead to one. Crooke then hit a sacrifice fly driving in the Panther's final run in the top of the seventh to capture the win.
 
Josalyn Ress earned her 12th victory (12-8) of the season by throwing seven innings where she allowed six hits, three runs, no walks and struck out two in facing 26 batters.
 
The second contest saw Kyli Smithson drive in four of KWC's 10 runs on two hits in three at bats in the five inning game.
 
The Panther's produced back-to-back five runs in the third and fourth to put the contest away.
 
Crooke started the third with a RBI triple and then scored on a throwing error. Smithson continued with a triple driving in two more runs for a 5-0 advantage.
 
In the fifth, Kaci Ovelgoenner, Crooke and Casey Smith all hit singles to send in three more runs. Smithson knocked in the final two runs to settle on the final tally.
 
Smith (6-8) received the shutout win where she posted five hits, no walks and three strikeouts.
 
KWC (23-17, 14-6) will play at the G-MAC Championship beginning Thursday on the campus of Ohio Valley University in Vienna, WVa. Pairings and game times will be announced by Tuesday.
