The Panthers came from behind in the first contest to defeat the host Yellow Jackets, 8-4, in Great Midwest Athletic Conference action in Cedarville, Ohio, on Friday afternoon.
 
Cedarville jumped out to a 2-0 advantage in the first inning before KWC responded. Casey Smith's RBI single in the second started the comeback.
 
In the third, the Panthers put up five runs on Kaci Ovelgoenner's double to drive in two, MacKenzie Weedman's single added the third, Ashley Crooke scored on a dropped fly ball made the fourth and Kyli Smithson added the fifth on a RBI fielder's choice.
 
Jessica Carmon's double in the seventh sent the final two runs home. The Yellow Jackets scored two more in the seventh to settle on the final tally.
 
Mackenzie Weedman went three-for-three at the plate. Carmon and Amber Pendergraft both collected two hits. Josalyn Ress earned the complete game win by throwing seven innings and four strikeouts.
 
In the nightcap, CU scored the game-winning run the eighth to come from behind to edge KWC 11-10.
 
Weedman and Carmon hit RBI singles to grab a 2-0 lead in the first. The Yellow Jackets came back with two to tie in the bottom half of the frame and again with two in the third to go ahead 4-2.
 
With the bases loaded in the fourth Carmon's walk drove in a run and Ovelgoenner's double sent in two runs as the Panther's recaptured the lead 5-4. Smith's walk added the sixth run in the fifth while CU added two more in the bottom of the inning.
 
Crooke's grounder and Weedman's two run homer in the sixth brought in three more. Ovelgoenner added KWC's 10th and final run for the 10-6 advantage. The Yellow Jackets came back with four in the seventh and the game-winner in the eighth.
 
Ovelgoenner posted three hits and drove in three while Weedman also had three RBIs. Carmon also had three hits. Ress (11-8) received the loss in relief by pitching the final one and a third inning, striking out three and allowing one run. Carmon started the first two and a third innings. Casey Smith followed the next four innings and fanned two batters.
 
KWC (21-17, 12-6 G-MAC) play at Ursuline in Pepper Pike, Ohio, on Saturday at noon.
