Box Score 2 Kentucky Wesleyan split with visiting Trevecca Nazarene in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon at Foster Field.
Josalyn Ress in the opener threw a two-hitter as the Panthers won 2-1. She went the distance with six strikeouts and allowing only one walk as she faced 24 batters.
KWC scored both runs in the first and shutout the Trojans until the seventh when they hit a solo home run. MacKenzie Weedman produced two hits including the only extra base hit for KWC with a RBI double.
Ashley Crooke also had a RBI. The Panthers totaled five hits.
The second game saw five scoreless innings before Trevecca (31-9, 13-3 G-MAC) put three on the board in the top of the sixth and one in the seventh for the Trojans 4-1 victory.
Kelsey Miller single in the bottom of the sixth to drive in the Panther's only run.
Ress (10-7) also started the nightcap in receiving the loss and went five and a third inning where she struckout three and had no walks.
Casey Smith came in relief the final one and two-thirds inning. Trevecca had eight hits to KWC's four.
The Panthers (20-16, 11-5 G-MAC) will play at Cedarville on Friday, April 25 and at Ursuline on Saturday, April 26 to close the regular season and G-MAC action. They will in the G-MAC Championship on May 2-3.
