Kentucky Wesleyan swept host Trevecca Nazarene, 12-2 and 7-4, in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play on Saturday in Nashville, Tenn.
The Panthers opened the game with three runs in the first.
Nathan Hedgepath double down the left field line brought
Dennon Koziol and
Michael Hellmueller across the plate.
Kyle Emig hit a single up the middle scoring Hedgepath.
The Trojans cut the lead in the second with one run.
In the fourth,
Josh Vance went home on a single by
Reid Walker. Hellmueller then drove Walker to the plate on a single. Koziol added to the total with a RBI single pushing
Connor Petschke to the plate. Hellmueller add the fourth run of the frame on a wild pitch.
Trevecca added one in the fifth to end their scoring for the day.
Koziol's two RBI single brought home Petschke and Walker in the sixth. Petschke single to center field scored Vance and
Bobby Calbert, and Hellmueller produced KWC's final run with a single up the middle sending
Nolan Ray home in the seventh.
Koziol went four-for-four from the plate while collecting three RBIs as the Panthers produced 13 hits compared to the Trojans four.
Lucas Ray (2-0) went the distance throwing three strikeouts and allowing only two walks.
In the second contest, Trevecca jumped out to 4-0 lead after two innings, which would be their only scoring of the game, and held on until the fifth when the Panthers took over.
Koziol single to left center field scored Petschke and Walker to cut the deficit to 4-2.
The sixth inning saw KWC producing five runs. Walker started the scoring with a single to center field sending
Jordan Harbison and Vance home. Koziol then scored Walker on a single. Hellmuell followed by reaching the plate on an error from Hedgepath's hit.
Mark Hagedorn closed with a double down the left field line driving Koziol home.
Andrew Moralez (2-1) earned the win where he tossed eight innings and struck out six.
Noah Boswell picked up his fifth save of the season by pitching the final frame in recording one strikeout.
Koziol for the second game was three-for-five with three RBIs, Vance also went three-for-five and Hellmueller had three hits in four at bats.
The Panthers (10-7, 2-2 G-MAC) will host Cedarville for a four-game series on Friday and Saturday.
