Kentucky Wesleyan swept Oakland City, 3-2 and 9-0, in softball action at Foster Field on Thursday afternoon.
Jessica Carmon hit a two-out double in the sixth to drive home
Ashley Crooke and
Mackenzie Weedman as the Panthers came from behind in the opener.
Josalyn Ress fielder's choice in the second brought Crooke to plate for the 1-0 lead. The Mighty Oaks came back with one in the third and one in fourth to go ahead 2-1.
Carmon and
Kelsey Miller each had two hits as KWC recorded seven compared to OCU's three. Crooke also added a double.
Ress (3-4) earned the complete game win by throwing a season-best 10 strikeouts with one walk.
In the second outing, Carmon threw a three-hitter to blank the Mighty Oaks in five innings.
Crooke started the offensive blitz with a sacrifice fly RBI to send
Kelsey Miller home for the 1-0 advantage after one.
Carmon opened the second with a double followed by
Casey Smith's single scoring Carmon. Miller continued the inning with single driving home Ress to extend the lead to 3-0.
Mackenzie Weedman connected on a three-run homer in the third with Crooke and
Kaci Ovelgoenner joining her at the plate.
Crooke knocked in Miller on a sacrifice fly in the fourth frame.
Amber Pendergraft then scored on a bases loaded walk. Ovelgoenner added KWC's ninth run on a sacrifice RBI by Ress.
The Panthers recorded 13 hits including Miller's three.
KWC (8-10) hosts Union (Ky.) at noon on Saturday.
