Kentucky Wesleyan split four contests (2-2) at the Captain D's Classic, hosted by North Georgia, in Dahlonega, Ga., on Saturday and Sunday.
In the Saturday opener, KWC lost to King (Tenn.), 1-0.
The Tornadoes scored the lone run in the bottom of the first inning.
Kelsey Miller collected two hits and
Amber Pendergraft had one for the Panthers compared to King's six.
Josalyn Ress (2-3) went the distance on the mound producing four strikeouts in six innings.
Later in the evening, the Panthers jumped on Catawba (NC) with a 5-0 advantage after two innings to cruise to a 10-2 victory.
Kaci Ovelgoenner drove in four runs, scored one on two-for-two hitting.
Ashlea Holt went three-for-three at the plate driving in three runs and scoring three.
Casey Smith (2-3) pitched five innings and had two strikeouts. KWC recorded nine hits to the Indian's seven.
Early Sunday morning, King bested the Panthers 4-2.
The Tornadoes opened the contest with three runs in the top of the first. KWC came back with two in the bottom of the first on
Mackenzie Weedman's double RBI scoring Ovelgoenner and Miller. King closed the game with one more in the seventh. Weedman had three hits and
Jessica Carmon posted two. Smith (2-4) received the loss and struck out four.
KWC bounced back at noon with a 3-0 shutout over Catawba.
Ashley Crooke connected on a RBI single to bring home Ovelgoenner and Kyle Smithson's walk with bases loaded scored Weedman for the 2-0 lead after the first. Smithson produced the Panther's third run in the seventh on a RBI single scoring Ovelgoenner. Carmon (2-1) threw the five-hit shutout in seven innings and had one strikeout.
The Panthers (6-8) play a doubleheader at North Georgia on Monday at 4 p.m. CT.
