The Kentucky Wesleyan softball team opened the second day of the Charger Chillout, hosted by the University of Alabama-Huntsville, falling to Ohio Dominican 3-2 before beating Miles 6-2. The Panthers are 2-2 on the season.
Ohio Dominican built a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Two runs were scored on a single by Kelsey Albanese. Lizzy Weber scored the third run for the Panthers.
KWC cut the ODU lead to two after senior

Kaci Ovelgoenner's at bat.
Ohio Dominican had runners in scoring position during the second and fourth innings, but the KWC defense was able to force the necessary outs to hold the Panthers from reaching home.

Kyli Smithson made it a one run game in the bottom of the fifth when she scored on a triple by Miller.
Miller finished the game with one run and one RBI and two hits in three at bats. Junior
Ashley Crooke had six putouts, while freshman

Ashlea Holt each posted three assists.
Miles went ahead 2-0 in the first inning of KWC's second game of the day, scoring both runs on singles.
The Panthers tied the game in the second inning. Crooke scored the first run for KWC, advancing home on a triple by Smithson. KWC earned its second run when Smithson scored during junior

KWC scored its final four runs of the game in the third. Holt, who reached base by being walked, scored following a single by Ovelgoenner. Miller made it a 4-2 game scoring on a sacrifice fly by Crooke. Senior
Alex Baumgart and Ovelgoenner scored during Smithson's at bat.
Both teams had a runner in scoring position in the fourth inning, but neither team was able to advance the runner home.
Smithson had one run, three RBI and two hits in three at bats. Crooke posted a game best 10 putouts in the win. Holt collected four assists on the evening.
Freshman
Jessica Carmon pitched a complete game, allowing six hits and one walk, while striking out five in 29 batters faced.
The Panthers wrap up play at the Charger Chillout on Sunday, February 9 in Huntsville, Ala. against Northwood at 11:00 a.m. and West Georgia at 1:00 p.m.
