Kentucky Wesleyan swept host Missouri S&T, 7-0 and 8-2, in softball action on Saturday afternoon in Rolla, Mo.

In the opener, Alex Baumgrat scored on a throwing error in the first inning for the 1-0 advantage. Both teams were scoreless in the next four innings.

Kaci Ovelgoenner started the sixth with her first home run of the season with a two-run shot scoring Baumgrat for the 3-1 lead.

The Panthers exploded for four runs in the seventh. Ashlea Holt scored on a wild-pitch from third. Ovelgoenner followed an RBI single scoring Kelsey Miller.

Mackenzie Weedman complete KWC's scoring with a RBI double bringing home Ovelgoenner and Baumgrat.

Ovelgoenner went three-for-four at the plate and drove in three runs.

Josalyn Ress (2-1) earned her second win by throwing a complete shutout game on a three-hitter where she struck out six and walked none.

In the second contest, the Miners went out to a 1-0 lead in the second before the Panthers tied it up in the fourth on a Casey Smith solo home run.

The fifth inning saw Ovelgoenner hitting her second two-run homer of the day by scoring Miller and Weedman followed with a two-run shot over the left-center field to bring across the plate Ashley Crooke for the 5-1 advantage.

Crooke connected on a RBI double in the seventh scoring Baumgrat. Missouri S&T followed with a run in the bottom half of the inning on a RBI single.

Miller produced the Panthers final two runs with a RBI single scoring Amber Pendergraft and Smith for the 8-2 final.

Smith (1-3) earned her first win and third complete game by throwing three strikeouts and allowing six hits.

Miller collected four hits in five at bats while knocking in two runs.

KWC (4-4) host Carson-Newman for a doubleheader on Tuesday at Foster Field starting at 10 a.m. CT
