Box Score

Ken-Jah Bosley scored 24 points and dished five assists to lift Kentucky Wesleyan over Quincy 95-78 in the championship game of the Quincy Subway Holiday Tournament on Sunday at Pepsi Arena in Quincy, Illinois.

The surging Panthers improved to 10-3 with their sixth consecutive victory.

"It's a good way to go into Christmas," second-year KWC head coach Happy Osborne said. "It's a really good win against a quality opponent.

"It's a step-by-step thing — we're not close to where we can be, where we want to be, but we're moving in the right direction. That's great to see."

Bosley, who scored a career-high 31 points in Saturday's 80-76 semifinal conquest of Hillsdale, was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. He was joined on the all-tournament team by teammate Devin Langford, who scored 17 points in Sunday's finale.

"Devin was huge for us," Osborne said, "and he hasn't even scratched the surface yet."

Kentucky Wesleyan built a 17-point first half lead, but the Hawks whittled away time and again to stay in contention before a late surge by the Panthers sealed the deal.

"We're getting better offensively," Osborne said, "but we still need to attack the rim more, get to the free-throw line more — that will come."

Kentucky Wesleyan also got a banner game from C.J. Blackwell, who produced his third consecutive double-double by delivering 21 points and a game-best 12 rebounds that helped the Panthers win the board battle, 36-25. Blackwell made 5-of-8 shots from beyond the arc.

"C.J. is really coming into his own," Osborne said. "He's getting better and better, and he's playing with a lot of confidence. That's what we want to see."

In addition, reserve forward Patrick Neel produced 10 points and five rebounds in 19 minutes.

Kentucky Wesleyan shot 57 percent from the floor and sizzled from 3-point range, making 11-of-17 shots for 64 percent. Wesleyan was also sharp from the free-throw stripe, draining 14-of-16 for 88 percent.

Quincy's balanced attack was led by Evan McGaughey, who scored 14 points. Ja'Mil Jones added 13 for the Hawksm, who slipped to 6-6.

The Hawks shot 42 percent from the floor, making 5-of-11 shots from 3-point range (46 percent). Quincy was 29-of-35 from the foul stripe for 83 percent.

Each club turned the ball over 13 times.

Kentucky Wesleyan doesn't play again until Dec. 31, with a 2 p.m. tipoff against visiting Brevard.
