Box Score A week off for finals gave Kentucky Wesleyan women's basketball a chance to rest and prepare for tonight's game with Oakland City.
Led by 14 points from
Haley Cook and their best free throw shooting of the season, KWC fought back from a three-point deficit with 11:42 left in the game to capture a 66-52 victory to improve to 5-4 on the season. The Panthers shot 22-25 from the free throw line in the game and the plus 10 difference was a key to the win.
Oakland City opened the scoring with 18:52 left in the first half to take a 2-0 lead.Â
Bria Wright's fast break layup with 17:58 left tied the score at two and was followed by a three from
Jordanne Gambill 38 seconds later to make it 5-2.Â
Katie Miller stretched the lead to five with 17:52 left and the teams would go back and forth until the 3:55 mark in the first half. From that point on, the Panthers closed on a 7-2 run and would go into the locker room leading 32-21.
A Cook three with 19:14 left in the game stretched the lead to 36-21, its largest margin of the game, before Oakland City would go on a furious 20-2 run over the next 7:32 to take a 41-38 lead with 11:42 to play.
Miller's layup with 10:57 left cut the lead to one and a pair of
Erin Dorn free throws with 9:45 to go gave KWC a 42-41 lead. The Panthers never trailed again, going on a 10-2 run over a 4:05 stretch to make the game 52-43 and take control.
Oakland City would not get within six and KWC cruised to a 66-52 victory. In addition to Cook's 14 points,

Jade Mills-Harris and
Bria Wright were the co-leaders in rebounds with seven, with six of Harris' being on the offensive end.
KWC shot 33 percent from the field (20-61) and 22 percent from the three-point arc (4-18) to go along with the free throw shooting. The Panthers also out rebounded Oakland City 38-33, including 16-6 on the offensive end.
The Panthers tip next against Cincinnati Christian on Friday afternoon in the first game of the Fairfield Inn Christmas Classic. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT.
