With two Great Midwest Athletic Conference opening wins, Kentucky Wesleyan women's basketball moved their overall winning streak to four games.
KWC steps out of conference play for their next three contests. Monday night, they face Oakland City, with tip-off set for 7 p.m. CT; Friday and Saturday, the Panthers host the Fairfield Inn Christmas Classic at the Sportscenter.
Friday's tip-off with Cincinnati Christian is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT and Saturday's game with Carson-Newman tips off at 3 p.m. CT. All three games can be heard on WKWC 90.3 FM and on kwcpanthers.com.Â
The Panthers are 4-4 on the season.Â
Jordanne Gambill leads the team in scoring (14.1 points),
Bria Wright paces the team in rebounding (5.9 rebounds) and also leads the team in assists (2.3 per game). As a team, KWC averages 66.4 points and 39 rebounds per contest while shooting 40 percent from the floor, 30 percent from the three-point arc and 63 percent at the free throw line.
Oakland City is 3-7 on the year. Raven Greer leads the Oaks in scoring (15.4) and assists (4.2), while Chelsea Jellison and Emily Pitkin both average 4.8 rebounds-per-game to lead the team.
Cincinnati Christian is 6-4 on the season. Beth Moorman is their leading scorer (14.9), while Amanda Baute is averaging 11 rebounds and Sydney Mason averages 5.2 assists, both team highs.
Carson-Newman is 8-0 on the season. Jessica Simerly paces the Eagles in scoring (14 points) and rebounding (5.9 per game). Lacy Miller and Tatum Burstrom are the co-assist leaders, averaging slightly under three per game.
These are the final three games of the 2014 calendar year for KWC, as they resume their season at the Sportscenter on Jan. 5 against G-MAC foe Ursuline at 5:30 p.m. CT.
