A slow start to the season was not anticipated for Kentucky Wesleyan women's basketball.
Searching for their first win, KWC travels to Nashville this weekend for the Pops Duncan Classic. Friday night at 7 p.m. the Panthers will face Ferris St. and Saturday at noon they take on Truman St., with both games being broadcast on WKWC 90.3 FM.
Jordanne Gambill has opened the season as the leading scorer for KWC, averaging 14.5 ppg, while dishing out a team best 2.5 apg and
Jennifer Walker-Crawford is averaging seven rebounds per contest. As a team, the Panthers are shooting 43 percent from the field, 61 percent from the free throw line and 23 percent from the three-point arc.
Ferris State has not played yet this season, but they have four players back from last year's team that should contribute, led by last year's leading returning scorer, Christine Branch.
Truman State is 1-0. They are led by Courtney Strait and Michalina Tomczak, both of whom are averaging 13 ppg.
KWC returns home for their next contest on Wednesday, Nov. 26 against D-III opponent Berea College.
