An important win to end the regular season for Kentucky Wesleyan volleyball gave the Panthers the number four seed and momentum going into the Great Midwest Athletic Conference tournament.
Tonight, KWC takes the court in the G-MAC quarterfinals against Trevecca in Cedarville, Ohio. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT.
"It was a tough match," said head coach
Eric Hagan. "Ursuline is a very good team. I was proud of the way we played and the way we handled ourselves. I was proud of them. It was a great day to go out for the seniors. They played well and gave great effort and had a lot of energy."
The Panthers finished the regular season 15-12 with a 7-4 record in G-MAC play.Â
Summer Alford leads the team in kills with 258,
Sarah Swenson has a team-best 454 assists and
Hannah Hudnall has a team high 440 digs.
Trevecca is 15-14 overall and finished 6-5 in the G-MAC. Katelyn Atkinson had 422 kills, Loren Bennett has 939 assists and Kayleigh Jarrett had 310 digs, all of which were team bests.
When asked to assess the tournament, Hagan responded: "We have beaten Trevecca twice this season and it is very difficult to beat a team three times. I feel good about where we are and I have been saying it now for about the last three to four weeks."
The winner of the match will face the host Cedarville on Friday.
