Currently sitting in a tie for fourth place in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference standings, Kentucky Wesleyan volleyball goes on a very important trip this weekend.
Tonight, KWC will take on Central State in Wilberforce, Ohio at 6 p.m. and Saturday they travel to take on Cedarville in Cedarville, Ohio beginning at noon.
"I was very happy with the way we played at Indiana-Southeast," said head coach
Eric Hagan, "It took us a little while to get going, but once we got going, we looked really good, especially in the third and fourth set."
Summer Alford is the team leader in kills with 183,
Courtney Gildea has the assist lead with 249 and
Hannah Hudnall paces the team in digs with 336.
Central State has a 0-11 record on the season and 0-7 in the G-MAC. These two teams met 20 days ago in Jones Gym, with the Panthers winning 3-0.
Cedarville has a record of 14-12 on the season and 6-1 in the G-MAC which puts them in first place currently. Cedarville beat KWC 3-0 three weekends ago in their previous matchup. Amanda Bell is the kills leader, Maddie Ledbetter has the most assists and Angela Becker paces the team in digs.
When asked about preparation this weekend, Hagan responded: "We will work on serve/receive and defense in practice. We've watched video on Central State. We don't take any teams lightly. We will be prepared to play on Friday night. Cedarville's gym is always energetic and lively. Saturday's match is huge. If we can win that, we will be right back in the race."
