After a 55-28 win over Lindenwood-Belleville last week, Kentucky Wesleyan football travels to Murray, Ky. this weekend to face the Division I Racers of Murray St.
"Great win for our program," said head coach
Brent Holsclaw. "They did that same thing to us last year. Guys played hard. It was a terrific game for our team. We are looking forward to the big challenge we have this week."
Dalton Oliver set a school record with 526 passing yards in the win and threw six touchdowns as well. Oliver this season has completed 131-of-226 passes for 2,273 yards and 20 touchdowns.
Xavier Mitchell and
Keelan Cole both caught three touchdowns last weekend and Cole is the team's leading receiver with 48 catches for 1,029 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Myles Walker did not run for a touchdown last week, but he leads the team in rushing with 66 carries for 380 yards and one touchdown.
Murray State is 2-5 this season and leads the all-time series 2-0, but the two teams have not played since 2009. Murray is led by K. D. Humphries with 1,596 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Pokey Harris has 380 yards rushing and two touchdowns and Jeremy Harness has 47 catches for 408 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Racers.
When asked how his team is getting ready for Murray, Holsclaw responded: "It's not going to be a stranger to us. Some of our team was in the Division I environment last year when we played Liberty. Murray is going to present some challenges for us. I like our matchup. I think we can move the ball and I think we can stop them. If we bring our A game, there's no doubt in my mind that we will be in that game."
