Katlyn Duke goal in the 82nd minute gave Kentucky Wesleyan women's soccer a 1-0 late and they would hang on to win by that score over Davis & Elkins.
The goal was the third of the season for Duke and it came off a headed flick from
Paige Kramer, who garnered her team leading fourth assist.Â
Kathryn Dishion was masterful in goal, making seven saves in the shutout.
"It was a very defensive game," said Dishion after the match. "I thought we played really well in the back. We won a lot of balls in the ar and that was what kept us most in the game."
KWC was outshot in the game 12-11 and seven-to-four in shots on goal, but they committed fewer fouls and controlled possession for most of the game.Â
When asked if the team relaxed at all after the goal, Dishion replied: "No. We stayed on our toes really well. We kept pushing and didn't want to back down and let them back in the game."
The Panthers return to the pitch on Saturday when they face another G-MAC rival in Alderson-Broaddus.
