KWC volleyball plays first G-MAC contests at home

A split at the Lee Invitational was how Kentucky Wesleyan volleyball fared in their final non-conference tournament.

This weekend, KWC opens Great Midwest Athletic Conference play at Jones Gym.  Friday night at 7 p.m. the Panthers face Cedarville in the White Out game and Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m. they face Central State.

"We struggled in the first match of the day," said head coach Eric Hagan.  "We looked a lot better in the second match on Friday and won that match.  We are dealing with some injuries and we should have won the first match on Saturday.  We looked really good in our last match.  We got a lot better at defending the net."

KWC has a 5-5 record this season.  Summer Alford has the team lead in kills with 102, Courtney Gildea paces the team in assists with 187 and Hannah Hudnall has 159 assists for a team-high.

Cedarville has a 9-6 overall record and a 2-0 record in G-MAC play.  Hannah Wagner has 132 kills to lead the team, Maddie Ledbetter has 315 assists and Angela Becker has made 240 digs for a team best.

Central State is 0-4 overall and 0-3 in G-MAC play.

"This coming week is a big week for us," said Hagan, when asked about this weekend's opponents. "We had talked a little over a week ago about doing a white out night for Cedarville.  Cedarville will be a huge challenge for us.  I like where we are in practice."
