Looking to extend its win streak and remain perfect in G-MAC play the Kentucky Wesleyan women's basketball team fell short, 61-60, to Trevecca Nazarene on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers are 11-5 on the season and 6-1 in conference play following the loss to the Trojans.

Senior Karly Rhoads scored the opening basket of the game, but Trevecca Nazarene tied the game at two apiece at the 17:27 mark.

Junior Jordanne Gambill put the Panthers up 4-2 on a made jumper with 17:05 to go in the game before the Trojans scored the next 13 points to go up 14-4. Freshman Asia Coates snapped Trevecca Nazarene's run by connecting on a three pointer to make it a 15-7 game with 9:51 remaining before halftime. Gambill made it a five point game by hitting a three of her own.

Trevecca Nazarene went back ahead by double digits at the 6:40 mark of the first half following a three to put the score at 23-14.

The Panthers used a 7-0 run to pull within four, as senior T'Essence Phelps capped the run by going 1-for-2 from the free throw line. KWC went into the break trailing 28-24.

KWC shot 35 percent from the field, 38 percent from beyond the arch and 60 percent from the free throw line in the opening 20 minutes of play. Trevecca Nazarene made 41 percent of its attempts from the floor, 27 percent from three point range and 25 percent from the free throw line.

Sarah Raby gave the Trojans the 40-30 lead in the second half after making two free throw attempts with 16:37 on the clock. KWC responded scoring the next nine points to pull within one, as freshman Erin Dorn made a layup with 14:33 to go in the game.

Trevecca Nazarene went ahead by five, before Karly Rhoads made the next seven points to give the Panthers their first lead of the second half at 46-44 with 9:00 on the clock.

The Trojans went ahead 49-48 with 5:53 to go and Trevecca held onto the lead for the remainder of the game although the Panthers had a chance to win the game at the buzzer.

KWC ended the game shooting 41 percent from the floor, 40 percent from beyond the arch and 75 percent from the free throw line. Trevecca Nazarene finished the game shooting 44 percent from the floor, 35 percent from three point range and 57 percent from the stripe.

Karly Rhoads ended the game one point shy of scoring her 1,000 point at KWC, as she collected a team best 19 points. Phelps collected eight rebounds for the Panthers, as Coates finished with three assists. Gambille and freshman Jennifer Walker-Crawford both had two steals.

The Panthers return to action on Wednesday, January 22 against G-MAC opponent Ursuline in Cleveland, Ohio at 12:30 p.m. CST.
