Sweeping their third straight opponent, the Kentucky Wesleyan volleyball team improved to 7-2 on the season following a win over Indiana-Southeast Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers jumped out to the 4-1 advantage in the opening set. Indiana Southeast fought back and eventually took a 10-8 lead. Eight lead changes occurred in the first set before KWC pulled away at the end to take the set 25-21.
In the second set the Panthers scored the first three points, but the Grenadiers answered with three straight points of their own. Junior
Bridget Johnson recorded two straight service aces giving the Panthers the 19-12 lead. Closing out the set junior
Rae Garvison tallied the kill to give KWC the 25-17 win.
The Panthers built a 4-0 lead to begin the third set and they didn't let up taking the game 25-16.
Johnson finished the match with 10 kills and three service aces for the Panthers.
KWC recorded a .333 attacking percentage, seven blocks and four service aces.
Next up for the Panthers is the Brescia Bearcat Brawl on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 27-28. The Panthers face Kentucky State on Friday at 6 p.m.
