Baseball wins over Oakland City 12-6

Kentucky Wesleyan defeated visiting Oakland City 12-6 in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon at Panther Park.
 
The Panthers opened the first inning with a 2-0 lead on Nathan Hedgepath's two-run single. Jon Wandling scored Nolan Ray on a ground out to the shortstop and Ray Delvalle hit a RBI single bringing home Lucas Ray in the second for the 4-0 advantage.
 
The Mighty Oaks scored two in the third.
 
Wandling collected his second RBI by scoring R. Lucas followed by Delvalle's sacrifice fly to bring Max Aubrey across the plate to extend the lead to 6-2 in the sixth.
 
In the seventh, Hedgepath scored on a passed ball and Josh Vance hit a two-run single to drive in L. Ray and Aussie Light to set the score at 9-2.
 
OCU came back in the eighth to add three.
 
Light and Sean Embry both hit back-to-back one run doubles and Jordan Harbison singled to score Embry for the Panther's 12-5 margin in the bottom of the eighth.
 
The Mighty Oaks added one more in the ninth to settle on the final 12-6.
 
Matt Pobereyko earned his second win of the season by pitching four innings and three strikeouts. Tyler Emberton threw three innings in relief with three strikeouts.
 
Noah Boswell pitched in the eighth and Aussie Light threw the final 1 1/3 innings and produced three strikeouts.
 
KWC (11-19, 5-13 GLVC) host Lewis in a four-game series on Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14. Both doubleheaders start at noon.
