Meagan Salle and
Clarissa Smith each had two hits and an RBI, but it was not enough for the Kentucky Wesleyan softball team as the top ranked UIndy Greyhounds downed the Panthers in a Great Lakes Valley Conference twinbill, 6-2 and 4-2 Saturday afternoon.
Game one
It was a classic pitches duel between UIndy's Jennifer DeMotte and the Panther's

The Greyhounds got their offense going first with an RBI single by DeMotte, but KWC answered right back scoring its own tally in the bottom half.
The Panther leadoff hitter
Kelsey Miller singled to start off the bottom of the first, and Alex Baumgrat was attempting to sacrifice her to second. UIndy though mishandled the bunt and then threw to second, but the ball sailed into right field, scoring Miller.
The Greyhounds scored in the third to take a 2-1 advantage, but KWC tied it up in the sixth.
Amber Pendergraft tied the game on an RBI single to left.
Kyli Smithson came to the dish with two out facing a full count, Smithson though took what she believed to be ball four and
Ashley Crooke trotted home, but was tagged out to end the threat.
In the seventh, UIndy would score four times to put the game out of reach and tag Winstead (6-12) with the loss.
Game two

Josalyn Ress for Panthers though was just as tough by giving up just four runs, three of which were earned, while fanning four and scattering four hits. Ress also retired eight straight batters, which was ended by giving up a base on balls in the sixth.
KWC got a runner in scoring position in the sixth, but the threat was ended when Miller was called out for leaving early on a tag attempt.
In the seventh, the Panthers began the inning with a base hit to right and then Sallee tripled home Crooke. Sallee later scored when Smith singled to center to make it 4-2. However, Foley slammed the door and KWC could not bring home any more runs.
